Oct 10, 2019 · I use Ernie Ball. D'addario's came on my LTD, and they felt... I dunno -harsh. It's hard to describe exactly, but they felt rough to my fingers. I have no idea how long they sat on that guitar in the case, but it was a brand new guitar. That's my only experience with D'addarios, but I replaced them almost immediately with Ernie Ball strings.

As a musician that just recently started trying Ernie Ball strings again (been exclusively using D'Addario mostly out of habit), I think it's a neat thing OP did. Gotta admit if I wasn't, I might just view this as an Ernie Ball advertisement tho.. that might be part of the reason? Mostly just a useful guide for buying Ernie Ball products.

Same here. I used Ernie Ball for decades but switched D'addario a couple of years ago. They feel better and sound fatter to me even when using 10s. I mainly play doom and tuned to C standard, so I use the 12s.
